As a humanistic practitioner I believe you already have the answers within you. I combine Gestalt, Person Centred approaches and Transactional Analysis in order to facilitate personal growth.
Humanistic therapy is fundamentally optimistic, and the approach is non-judgemental and empathic encouraging you to recognise your inner resources and strengths. There is a strong focus on the relationship between us, on self-awareness and the potential for change. Together we can explore how you relate to yourself and others in the world identifying potentially unhelpful patterns of behaviour and developing new and more positive ways of living.
Sessions last for fifty minutes and our initial session is a chance for you to describe the issues that are troubling or distressing you and for you to discuss your expectations about counselling with me. If we both agree to begin therapy then further sessions will be arranged typically at the same day and time each week. Whatever you bring will be treated with respect and in total confidence.
Research shows that meeting regularly with a counsellor or psychotherapist at times in our life when we are low, anxious or overwhelmed can make a real difference to the way we feel.
The NHS suggests therapy is for anyone who’s going through a bad time or has emotional problems that they need help with. They recommend counselling for depression, anxiety, relationship issues, addiction, infertility struggles, redundancy, anger management and many other significant life events.
If you have lost a loved one this new loss may also evoke echoes of past losses, counselling can help you work through the different stages of your grief when you may be finding it hard to move on.
Therapy can improve your enjoyment of life if you're feeling low and lacking self-esteem. If you have been physically or sexually abused, or have experienced discrimination or racism. It can help you find new ways of coping with a greater sense of control and choice in your life.
Talking through your issues every week can help you come to terms with current challenges enabling you to lead a happier, healthier and more fulfilling life
